Position Summary:
The Senior Product Manager – Billing owns the product strategy and delivery for one of the most commercially critical areas in the ENSEK platform: generating an accurate, timely and compliant bill. Billing is where the entire upstream value chain of metering, market operations, tariffs, and pricing converges into a single moment of truth for every energy customer. You will own the product capability that sits at the centre of this and understand that getting the bill right is not just an operational outcome, but a competitive one.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
Own the product vision and roadmap for the Billing domain, spanning bill calculation, adjustments, and emerging flexible energy revenue streams.
Work with senior stakeholders, industry and customers to translate operational billing requirements into a clear and prioritised product strategy.
Identify and lead the product response to billing-related regulatory change.
Partner closely with other areas to ensure settlement and metering data, half-hourly flows, tariffs, and industry reconciliation all feed accurately into billing calculations.
Lead product thinking on how we handle complex and evolving billing scenarios e.g. multi-directional energy flows, export payments, flexibility market rewards, and time-of-use.
Identify opportunities where AI, data and automation can improve billing accuracy and reduce exception handling.
Monitor industry developments in DSR, V2G, heat pump tariffs, and smart charging developing a forward-looking billing product position for each.
Support client SLA obligations, audit requirements, and regulatory reporting in the billing area.
Maintain a prioritised, well-reasoned backlog ensuring your engineering team always has clear context on what they are building and why.
Apply strong ERP financial management principles to the billing domain.
Coach and support other Product Managers raising the standard of product thinking and delivery.
Key outcomes:
A billing domain where accuracy, auditability, and on-time invoice generation are measurably improved - reducing exceptions, manual interventions, and client escalations.
A roadmap that reflects client obligations and the emerging landscape of SEG, DSR, V2G, and flexible tariff billing.
Clear, trusted product strategy for Billing that is understood and supported at executive and client director level.
Evidence of successful cross-domain collaboration with Market Operations, Metering, and Tariffs, resulting in fewer billing errors traced to upstream data quality.
Delivery of billing capability that meets regulatory requirements, including MHHS readiness and SEG/FiT compliance.
Drive billing as an area of customer satisfaction scoring at our customers while reducing churn from billing challenges.
Skills, knowledge, experience & qualifications:
Significant experience in product management, with a track record of owning complex, commercially critical product domains.
Deep understanding of billing, invoicing, and financial management in an enterprise context — including credit, adjustments, collections, reconciliation, and audit.
Familiarity with ERP or financial platform concepts (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent) as they relate to invoice lifecycle and revenue management.
Experience working across multiple upstream domains or systems to ensure data accuracy in a downstream financial output.
Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, including enterprise client representatives, with clarity and confidence.
Demonstrable use of data and AI tooling to drive product decisions and operational improvement.
Experience in the similarly complex or regulated industry, within a B2B SaaS environment would be advantageous.
Working knowledge of Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), Feed-in Tariff (FiT), Demand Side Response (DSR), or other flexible energy commercial frameworks as well as prosumer smart meter data flows such as including ALCS, half-hourly data, and export register mapping.
Familiarity with MHHS, BSC settlement flows, Xoserve, or Elexon industry processes with existing knowledge or willingness to explore further geo-regional regulatory obligations.
